Iraq War Protest Tokyo, Japan Freelance Assignment Summer 2007
In Tokyo, Japan thousands convene in the streets of Ginza to protest Prime Minister Abe’s decision to become an American ally in the war against Iraq; The first time that the Japanese are involved in a war as non pacifists since World War II. The stereotypically passive japaense people cried out “Down with Bush and Abe... Now we have to stand up for a revolution lead by labor.”
These images show the disgust of the Japanese people with their ex-leader. It is one of many protests against the Iraq war. Similar protests have sprung up in Glasgow, Florence, Sydney, Madrid, Instanbul and many other big cities around the world.
